Dade, Broward, Collier and Lee Counties in Florida. Other Florida counties and other states, please add transportation, hotel accommodations and meals.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of Grupo CAÑAVERAL's concerts for colleges and universities are:

to teach students inter-cultural awareness;
to allow students to understand that Hispanic American  music goes beyond salsa and merengue;
to perform music from the Hispanic American countries;
to widen the musical options and perspectives of students;
to present the cultural forces that are responsible for shaping Hispanic American music;
to help develop in the student a sense of respect for ethnicity  and ethnic manifestations.

ACTIVITIES:

Grupo CAÑAVERAL's concerts for colleges and universities include:

presenting traditional Hispanic American music in Spanish with explanations in English;
identifying the cultures that make-up the Hispanic experience and their contributions;
investigating the historical background of Hispanic American music;
demonstrating different Hispanic American folk instruments;
learning about the social impact of Hispanic American music; audience participation;
presenting the different traditional Hispanic rhythms such as the cumbia, the merengue, and salsa
